A real bonus this was, sure it was. This by way of a double act with the duo composed of Gavin Pratt, a previous performer at our Club, this time accompanied- in all senses of the word by the raconteur & fab guitarist, Willie Gamble
Not a dry eye in the house. Outstanding performance re Burns poems, all from memory by Gavin. His performance of Holy Willie’s Prayer was hilarious, as can be seen. Gavin has a great booming deep voice (nae microphones needed) & he can also sing.
In addition, Willie did some solos, with a guitar that seemed to be totally under his spell. Outstanding guitarist he is. Some ditties & stories, including our favourite, Rindicella.
Beforehand, Bobbie had provided his well known Haggis Pies, which were very much appreciated & were excellent
As befits a Burns Night, our guests were awarded a certain amber liquid which is the end product of barley
This is a one off event where the Club invited “the significant others” by way of a thank you for their tolerance.
Direct Members plus “the others” amounted to 41 souls.
This event was organised by our new Chairman, Johnny Haynes, who “done well”, indeed, very well
This was a very successful social event, much enjoyed by all.
Johnny took the opportunity to present Ron with his “long service award” by presenting him with the Willie Baird cup, which he, Ron, originally provided. Ron kept us well tea-ed up with biscuits etc for many a long year. Thanks, Ron & thanks, Johnny.
